Introduction

Yokohama National University (YNU) is located in Yokohama, the second largest city in Japan and easily accessible from Tokyo by public transportation. The campus, with the surface of a 450,000-square-meter, is modern, large and ecologically designed. Originally established in 1876 as Yokohama Normal School, YNU was reestablished in 1949 as a government university. Today, YNU has become one of the best national universities and is internationally known for its higher quality in research and education. YNU has four undergraduate schools (Education and Human Sciences, Economics, Business Administration, and Engineering) and five graduate schools (Education, Social Sciences, Engineering, Environment and Information-Sciences, and Urban Innovation). YNU has 10,000 students with 1,000 faculty/administration members and 900 international students from 60 countries. YNU is committed to the global development of students by providing the English only programs, both at undergraduate and graduate levels and the exchange programs with 90 universities in 35 countries.
