Introduction

With 20.000 students and 250 full professors, Paderborn University offer about 75 degree programs at bachelor, master and doctorate level. Founded in 1972, Paderborn University as a campus university is located in the green heart of Germany between Hamburg, Frankfurt and Cologne. The University education and research profile is characterized by a strong interdisciplinary approach. Five faculties, namely • Faculty of Arts and Humanities (1) • Faculty of Business Administration and Economics (2) • Faculty of Science (3) • Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (4) • Faculty of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Mathematics (5) contribute to innovative bachelor and master programs as well as leading edge research. The fairly unusual composition of these faculties has been influenced by an interdisciplinary thinking and spirit. Historically, this spirit has evolved from a strong computer science department and its influence on and cooperation with many other fields and departments within the university
