Introduction

Brief Introduction YunTech was established in 1991 and has 5 colleges, which are Colleges of Engineering, Management, Design, Humanities and Applied Sciences, and College of Future. In the day school section, there are 23 departments in the four-year technical program, 2 departments in the two-year technical program, 2 academic degree programs in the continuing education department of the four-year technical program. There are 26 daytime master's degrees, 14 in-service master’s programs, and 13 doctoral programs. With nearly 10,000 students, more than 91% of teachers involved have practical experience. More than 80% of Yuntech teachers are engaged in industry-academia cooperation, which performs the leading position in Taiwan. According to 2018 information announced by the Ministry of Education via College Affairs Information Disclosure Platform, YunTech was ranked No. 1 in Taiwan in terms of amount of industry-academia cooperation per teacher. Times Higher Education announced 2019 University Impact Rankings, in which Yuntech Won the 101-200th in the world in overall performance (No. 4 in Taiwan section and No. 1 in section of Universities of Science and Technology). In 2020 University Impact Rankings, in terms of SDG9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) and SDG 6 (Water and Sanitation), Yuntech Leaps into the world's top 100 (No. 79 and No. 80 respectively). In the aspects of SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG10 (Reduce inequality within and among countries), and SDG12 (Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns), Yuntech also Ranked 101-200 in the world. On the other hand, owing to its new style teaching system, YunTech’s PBL research center and College of Future were listed as the qualifiers for winning the Best Teaching Strategy of the Year, which was ranked within top 8 in Asia. Yuntech ranked 70th in the Green World University Ranking, and in Emerging Economies Rankings, Yuntech ranked 201-250th in 2020 UK Times Higher Education World University Rankings. In terms of domestic assessment, Yuntech applied award for Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy and won 3 medals, including being ranked within top 50 of Corporate Comprehensive Performance Award, Best Performance of Specific Category (Social Prosperity and Corporate Sustainability Reports). Amongst, Yuntech won Platinum Award in the category of Corporate Sustainability Reports, which is the highest honor for universities, hospitals, and government organizations, representing of a marvelous performance. Teaching characteristics Regarding to teaching performances, YunTech has been focusing on cultivating cross-domain talents. Through the cooperation between different departments and colleges, Yuntech PBL Research Center and College and Future have worked together to develop cross-field industrial curriculum modules. Starting from the freshman stage, Yuntech students need to learn industry knowledge and professional skills in the school, and gradually and spirally matured year by year. In addition, Yuntech also devotes itself to developing problem-solving-oriented curriculum design, planning PBL courses combined with the practical topics in each department, introducing real problems in the industry or community, designing practical courses, and implementing the cultivation of talents who can really help solve practical problems. YunTech constructs a new atypical education system and promotes College of Future via “Maker Space", "Course-raising Platform", "Autonomous Learning", "Microcredits", "Deep Learning Courses", and "X+1 Courses" Designs such as "Singularity Module Courses", and a four-fold tutoring team to assist students in establishing IEP learning plans, which help students gradually construct a collaborative self-created IEP study map, and encouraging students to broaden their visions towards internationalization. This aims to build YunTech with a new type of YunTech teaching system, which involves student-based learning, adaptive development as the goal, education innovation as the strategy, and society and industry as the field for practice. Regarding to the enrollment rate and reduction of drop-out rate of day-time undergraduate classes in the academic year of 107, Yuntech ranked among the top 5% in Taiwan. Taiwan ranked 2nd in countrywide and 1st in the universities of science and technology in Taiwan in terms of retention rate as announced by the Ministry of Education. In addition, 7 departments and 1 graduate school of College of Engineering of Yuntech has acquired International Engineering and Technological Education Certification; the College of Management has been recognized for its performance in the past five years again and thus acquired a AACSB recertification, becoming the first technology university in Taiwan to be recertified by AACSB. Departments of the Colleges of Design and the College of Humanities and Sciences have also passed the quality assurance accreditation issued by the Higher Education Evaluation Center. "Education should not ignore the needs of any student; the education of universities of science and technology should comply with the industrial demands." Therefore, YunTech will integrate the innovative education system of the College of Future college and the innovative competences sourcing from YunTech PBL Research Center to accomplish this mission. In sum, Yuntech constructs an appropriate and adaptive educational environment for talent development, constructs a mechanism for linking R&D achievements and new ventures, utilizes educational R&D resources to solve local, industrial, social, and global issues, and continues organizational innovation and transformation as strategies to achieve " A practical and adaptive paradigm of a university of science and technology." International competition awards won by students in the past year include: l In 2019, at the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva in Switzerland, Yuntech won 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals, 1 bronze medal and 1 special prize. l In 2019, at the International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX) competition in Malaysia, Yuntech won 1 silver medal and 2 bronze medals. The research and development talent was highly recognized in international competitions. l In 2019, at the 33rd World Genius Convention and Education Expo in Tokyo, Japan, Yuntech won 4 gold, 2 silver medals and 1 special prize. l In 2019, at Taiwan Innotech Expo (TIE), Yuntech won 4 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 2 bronze medals. l In 2019, at Ukraine International Exhibition of Inventions, Yuntech won 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 2 special prizes. l In 2019, at MACAU International Innovation & Invention Expo, Yuntech won 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals, 1 bronze medal and 1 special prize. l In 2019, at International Warsaw Invention Show, Yuntech won 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 1 special prize. l In 2019, at Seoul International Invention Fair 2019, Yuntech won 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals, 4 bronze medals and 1 special prize. l In 2019, at IIIC International Innovation & Invention Competition, Yuntech won 15 gold medals and 9 silver medals. l In 2019, at Hong Kong Innovation and Technology International Invention Exhibition, Yuntech won 2 gold medals and 1 special prize.
