Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) offers students an outstanding education in a supportive and inspiring environment. If you join us, you will be taught by academics who are passionate about their subject, and you will experience life in one of the world's most exciting cities. It is no surprise that QMUL is ranked joint first in London for student satisfaction (National Student Survey 2015).

Known for our world-leading research and high-quality teaching, QMUL is in the top 100 universities in the world and the top 50 in Europe (Times Higher Education THE World University Rankings 2015/16). We are also ranked 9th in the UK among multi-faculty institutions for the quality of our research (REF 2014).

QMUL is a member of the Russell Group, which represents the UK’s leading universities. Graduates from Russell Group universities are highly valued by employers, giving you a head start when you apply for jobs. We are committed to developing your employability, and rank 10th in the UK for graduate starting salaries (Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2016).

QMUL has five campuses across east and central London. Set alongside the beautiful Regent’s Park, our main site in Mile End is one of the largest self-contained campuses in the capital; students can live, study and socialise in one place. As a student at Queen Mary, you will become part of the dynamic East End, famed for its rich history, community spirit and thriving cultural scene. We are close to the social hubs of Shoreditch and Brick Lane, the financial centres of Canary Wharf and the City, and one Tube stop away from Stratford, home to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

QMUL is a global university. We have 21,187 students from over 155 countries; this figure includes more than 2,400 students studying in China for a joint degree from QMUL and the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. We offer over 240 undergraduate degree programmes across the humanities, social sciences, medicine and dentistry, and science and engineering. We also offer postgraduate law courses in Paris, France and Piraeus, Greece and distance learning programmes in law, medicine and dentistry, and politics and international relations. THE recently ranked QMUL among the top 25 most international universities in the world (2015/16).

We have a proud history of welcoming and nurturing the most talented individuals from all backgrounds. Our history is deeply connected to that of the area, and can be traced to the late 19th century with the establishment of the People’s Palace, a Victorian philanthropic project designed to bring culture and entertainment to the people of the East End. We continue to work closely with our local communities, sharing knowledge and applying our research to real life. From conducting the world’s largest community-based genetics study with an aim of improving the health of the local population, to our research into low pay in the area supporting the national Living Wage Campaign, we remain committed to our east London heritage.
